why do i get extreme anxiety whenever i feel an overwhelming sensation/emotion that i am not familiar with?
whenever i become overwhelmed by an emotion that i do not experience very often, it is usually accompanied by extreme anxiety.
for example, i very rarely become angry. so if i get intense feelings of anger for some reason, these sensations will be accompanied by an extreme anxiety because i don’t understand what i am feeling.
even if i feel intensely happy, there will be a background anxiety for a while, like my brain is trying to fight the sensation even though it is pleasurable.
does anyone know why this might happen and is there anyway to prevent it?

When you first started feeling like this was there any specific situation that could have triggered this? If there was try to relive this moment from time to time. If not then try to really become more familiar with your feelings. Try to feel as many emotions as possible and make them stay around as long as you can hold them. It will be hard at first but it will become less and less of a big deaI. I have found that facing and learning as much as possible about my anxiety and fears is the best way to eliminate them.
