I was recently prescribed Lexapro and was told to take it in the morning unless I notice that its making me drowsy. I have alittle trouble with the drowsiness middle of the day so am thinking that I will start taking it at night. Other than that everything else is fine.
Lexapro is highly known for causing drowsiness. At our office, we generally recommend taking it before bedtime. If for some reason it keeps you awake, then start taking it in the morning.
Never. Lexapro kept me up all night long, and I felt like a zombie 24/7.
i take lexapro also.i try to take it around 6AM.if i’m much later the worse my day is.but thats me.it does’nt make drowsy at all.do what works best for ya.hopefuly you have a good doc instead of the usual arrogant psychratrists who wanna control you.whatever.
You should take it at night. I give that same medication at my job and it is always given at night. I hope you are aware of some side effects that can happen with this medication. Sexual side effects, nightmares, etc can occur but every person is different. Take it at night and you will sleep like a baby. Good luck!
When i first started taking it i took it in the morning as it made me a little wired until i got adjusted to it. after a few weeks when the side effects passed i switched to taking it at night.
I just started it as well and I am going to tell you I think that you should take it at night! I have ADD and it is really hard for me to fall asleep, even with something like Benadryl, and Lexapro knocks me out! I still feel sleepy during the day, but I heard it is a side effect that goes away after your body gets on the schedule with the medicine. Email if you have any other questions, I had the Pharmacist explain everything to me.
It is a very serious question, and the answer is never. However, you should never just stop taking these type of drugs. Ween yourself off them according to the book recommended below and with advice from a good non-drug doctor.
Have a look at http://www.cchr.org and this will tell you why. There is no drug that can fix this problem, only mask it.
For the sleeplessness, try http://www.volunteerministers.org/store/ and look for the book "Answer to Drugs", it has a drink that you can make up that will help you sleep and it is completely natural.
My doctor suggested that I take my Lexapro at bettime to help with my sleep and so for it has been working. I’ve been taking it this way for about a year.
I was on Lexapro for a while (I didnt like the effects it had on me and the withdrawl was painful – I dont like the drug one bit – but it might help you) I took it at night.
If it seems to keep you awake – just take it in the morning.
Either way I dont think its going to change the effect of the drug.
Thank you all responders, I began to search this very question this a.m. for my daughter, and have decided to move the lexapro from a.m. to bedtime. We are weaning her off zonegran and I feel this strategy may help.
