What seems to be the most successful anxiety medicine??
I know it varies from person to person, but what seems to be the most successful for anxiety? I’ve been taking 20mg of Lexapro for anxiety and depression for about 2 years now, and it really helped my depression…. but now my anxiety is through the roof! I’m not sleeping at night and I’ve NEVER had problems sleeping. My doctor sucks and gave me Effexor and I’ve read some really horrible things about it and it seems to me that’s more anti-depression related. I’ve been depressed plenty of times in my life, and I really feel like it’s the anxiety. I think Lexapro did the job pulling me through the depression and I feel okay in that aspect. My thoughts fly through my head 90 miles per hour and I shake almost constantly, I get short of breath, I freak out about petty things, and all in all I just CAN’T calm down and relax. It’s kind of embarrassing… Any suggestions on an anxiety medicine that seem to work really well??

I have taken Ativan, Lithium, Xanax and Klonapin for anxiety.
If your anxiety is more of a random occurance rather than constant, I would recommend Xanax for a quick fix.
If you suffer from more of a constant anxiety, such as social anxiety disorder, I would suggest Klonapin, which is also prescribed for sleep disorders. In my opinion, it doesn’t work as fast as Xanax, but then it does stay in your system for quite a bit longer than Xanax. I also noticed that with Xanax, the dosage tends to need to be raised every so often, cause your body builds up a tolerance. I never noticed that with Klonapin. I took the same dose for 2 years.
Another thing to work on, try to figure out what your anxiety triggers are. Just knowing them is quite helpful in dealing with an attack.

I use 15 mg. Kolephrin and works great. It calms me down very quickly. I have gotten to the point now how to ward off the aniexty if I feel it coming on, and not using as much anymore.
I take Celexa for an anxiety disorder. It completely turned my life around. Sometimes it makes my mouth a little dry and I take it at night or it makes me just a little drowsy, but I haven’t noticed any other negative side effects. I definitely know what you mean about the sleep- I used to be up until 6am some nights, freaking out about how I couldn’t sleep if nothing else. Now I get at least 8 hours a night
. I also really recommend turning your clock around so you can’t see it- it REALLY helps, because that way you don’t get even more anxious because of how late it is. Anyway I have had a really good experience with Celexa and would definitely recommend it. Anxiety sucks. Good luck, I’ll keep you in my prayers!
It sounds to me like you might need to try xanex..I am glad the lexapro is helping with the depression…Just tell your doctor how your feeling and that you need something for your nerves..because sounds like your having panic attacks..If he prescribes it to you take resposible because it can become habit forming…but this is the best medicine I have found for it..Take Care
I wouldn’t recommend Effexor myself as I had a horrible reaction to it, but I’m not licensed and certified as a mental health practitioner of any sort, either.
Xanax is excellent for anxiety (and my friend used it to sleep), but its drawback is it can be very addicting. If you have issues with addiction, you might want to avoid that one.
Trazodone is good for anxiety and excellent for sleeping. I use it now for sleeping. 100 mg slows me down (thoughts) so I can sleep. 150-200 mg knocks me out in like 20 minutes. I also used to take some during the day for anxiety. It worked well in that sense but made me tired. I only take it at night now since my anxiety doesn’t seem so bothersome.
OK lexapro is an anti-depressant so why did your Dr. give you Effexor which is another anti depressant for anxiety? Neither one of these drugs are even for anxiety, You need to ask your Dr. for some Xanax which is for anxiety and will help you sleep, if you can’t sleep it worsens anxiety, But you say you are shaking and can’t calm down you need Xanax.
My number one recommendation for you would be ZOLOFT. Please look up the site @ http://www.zoloft.com. I to have been through what you are going through. Every symptom you have I HAVE HAD until I started taking Zoloft. It takes approx two weeks to fully kick in but it is sooooo worth it. I only had to wait about one week to really feel the effect. I feel so normal again! I even fell into a depression over my anxiety and panic. After two straight years of non-stop anxiety I was ready to jump off of a bridge! It was driving me NUTS!
I encourage you to please check out the website. It covers everything from A-Z. It also made me realize how many people actually suffer from this…millions! Needless to say the site didnt make me feel like a freak, it took me step by step and explained exactly what it was about and how it works.
I know from personal experience what you are feeling. I dont think anyone in this world should feel that way. Seek further help from your doctor.
