I’m not planning to take these drugs. The only reason I ask is because I am writing a story and I’d like it to be as accurate as possible. So if you know someone with rapid cycling bipolar or have rapid cycling bipolar, then if you could list the meds they or you take I’d be forever grateful!!!!!

Lithium is the main treatment for bipolar disorder. Good luck with your story.
Kory is right.
Also it is a NUMBER of other drugs. For general bi-polar, they would use drugs such as, Depakote, Lithium carbonate, Tegretol, or a popular drug, Lamictal.
Doctors *may* also treat you with the anti-psychotic, both novel and current generation drugs, if the drugs above and the like–do not work. Such as Abilify, Haloperidol, or Risperidal. Maybe even a benzodiazepine in some cases such as Ativan, Xanax, or Klonopin, in low doses.
Most people with BP do well on an antipsychotic and a mood stabilizer. Everyone is different on what meds work for them. What might work well for one person can actually have negative affects on another. Some good mood stabilizers are Trileptal, Tegratol, Depakote, and Lithium. Lithium is known as the gold standard of mood stabilizers. It can work wonders when the level is within the therapeutic range. Atypical Antipsychotiss are the newer antipsychotics like Risperdal, Abilify, and Lamictal. My son rapid cycles and he is doing well on a combo of Abilify and Lithium Extended Release.
hm have you tried getting a free bipolar 1 disorder healthcare pack? i got mine from http://www.aarpma.com/health/archive-2007-09-abilify_aripiprazole_bristol_m.php?01 and it helped me and my family out a lot.
