First I would like to give compassion and support to all of you who suffer from anxiety and depression! I’m also the sufferer and need advice about what activities are good for keeping mind busy and away from negative thoughts. As you all know negative thoughts are our number 1 enemie. I appriciate any advice! Thanks

I would start by keeping a journal and writing down at least five things each day that you’re grateful for. I know it sounds corny, but it really makes you stop and think about the good things that happened during the day. They don’t have to be big things…it could be something as mundane as seeing a cute dog while you’re walking.
If it’s possible with your living conditions, consider getting a dog from the pound or a cat. Rescuing this animal and being responsible for it will give you a deep appreciation and it will shower you with unconditional love every minute of every day. (Dogs are way more affectionate than most cats but cats are very interesting creatures!)
I would get an iPod or similar device and load it up with your favorite tunes. Mine has nothing but oldie-goldies on it–what we call "beach music" in my neck of the woods, and when I listen to it while walking of pulling weeds, it makes me smile.
I would try to become a "pleasure reader" if you aren’t already. There are so many books out there that will totally occupy your mind for the time that you’re reading. It’s really easy to get lost in a good book.
I would vounteer to help someone or some organization. It’s impossible to feel bad when you’re helping others. You should be able to google or "yahoo" your local volunteer organizations and check them out.
I would make a commitment to do something nice for someone every day and write what that it in your journal. It could be something as simple as opening a door for someone or paying for soda in line behind you at the 7-11.
Good luck!
well first start by helping others that always take your mind of your problems an it gives you a good feeling
i clean when it gets to be too much, i find cleaning keeps my mind and hands busy. cleaning also helps me focus on a goal. reading really long books help me too. i hope this helps a little bit.
Anything outdoors is for starters an awesome way to forget about all the crud that can way us down, you need to be able to find an appreciation for things outside of your personal world and learn how to breathe life into your soul, go to the ocean, or a lake, or the mountains and understand how much infinate beauty is out there for you…………….. and all of us! It really is simple, you just have to tweak your perception and absorb the positives.
Reading books is a great way to forget about your thoughts. Listening to music gives your mind a good feeling too.
Do anything that makes you happy! Most of all WORK OUT. Working out releases happy endorfins! I read that somewhere before, i promise it. Talk to friends, family. Keep up with current news, paint something in your house that needs painting. KEEP BUSY. The more bored you are, the more you will think about it. No one activity will banish negative thoughts. Thats for time to heal… Keep strong, im in this with you too. Just keep busy! No procrastinating, and no thinking about it. But when it really gets to you…take a few minutes to cry or talk it over with someone. But dont dedicate your life to that. Good luck!
