The Suboxone is known for causing anxiety, among other things. benzos are NOT normally prescribed and are not safe to take with suboxone, or any opiate, unless you are already dependent upon them…and then it is still a bad idea.
reduce your sub dose. Unless you were on methadone previously, no one needs more than 2-4 mg’s a day of sub. Doctors prescribe more to trap you on it for years, like they have the poster above. 3 years on Suboxone?? Come on, what has that fixed? Nada.
Exercise will help with anxiety…a 2 mile walk every day will do wonders. Get off the sub and you’ll be fine, and the sooner the better.
I’ve been on Suboxone for almost 3 years now, and I was on Klonopin for 2 years in the past so I know what you’re going through. When I started the Suboxone, I was taking 3mg prescribed Klonopin (clonazepam) daily, and my Sub doctor wasn’t exactly thrilled about it. When I asked if they would take over my Klonopin scrip as well (so that only would only have to see 1 doctor), they absolutely refused, saying that as a rule they don’t prescribe benzos. I eventually tapered off the Klonopin over about 18 months, partly because I was ready to be off of it, but also partly because my Sub doctor was constantly on me about it, and I need the Sub more than the Klon. So really it depends on the individual doctor, some doctors have no problem prescribing both but not all are okay with it.
The part you didn’t explain but left us to read between the lines to determine is the important part. You are taking Suboxone because you are addicted to opiates, yes? Heroin, perhaps? You’re in your 3rd or 4th day? And you’re nervous and anxious because you’re coming down from your addiction, is that correct? OK, now that we’ve got the full story, then yes, your doctor can prescribe a mild anti-anxiety drug that will help you as you go through your withdrawal. Ask your doctor if he would consider prescribing a little Xanax. That would help you to get through your opiate withdrawal more comfortably. I’m a little surprised he didn’t prescribe that with the Suboxone. What country are you in? UK? In the U.S., you would have almost certainly received a Xanax prescription at the same time.
