Sometimes one SSRI will work well for a person when another SSI has not been effective or has not been well tolerated. Sometimes another class of meds is the way to go. I took Zoloft years ago and the worst of it was I had no libido what so ever. Also I was diagnosed incorrectly as having major depression. I take Lexapro now and the worst side effect seems to be some weight gain. I feel the Lexapro works better too. That said, I am bipolar and antidepressants have a different affect for bipolars. When on Zoloft it was the only med I was taking and I was thrown manic so I stopped taking it. Now I have been diagnosed correctly and Lexapro is one of several meds I take.
