Also, how do we even know what a chemical balance is? Please don’t mention brain scans because that doesn’t prove anything. How do we know if we have too much or too little dopamine, for example? Maybe these mental chemical imbalances wouldn’t exist if pharmaceutical companies didn’t push their pills on everybody. Believe me, drug companies would be really happy if every single person in USA was on some pschotropic drug, e.g. zoloft, paxil, you name it.

what works best for Generalized Anxiety Disorder?

i have been diagnosed for around 4 years and nothing seems to work except xanax but zoloft didnt really do it for me.. anybody got some stories to share how they dealt with this disorder?

im being serious. i have struggled with this for almost 5 years and im only 14 and i cant take any more of this. ive been to the psychiatrist and nothing changed. right now im taking zoloft and havent seen any changes. so how did you recover from your anxiety and panic disorder?
thank you so much!
:D

I have found that doctors are very willing to send you home with samples of prozac, lexapro, zoloft, etc even if you tell them you are NOT DEPRESSED.

I have spoken to several other people that have encountered this with their doctors also. I have told my doctor that I am going through a stressful time, and feel anxious and worry often.

Not depression.

I understand the fact that some anti anxiety drugs such as valium and xanax can be abused, and or addictive, but as a responsible adult it bothers me that my doctor will send me home with packets of drugs that are not for anxiety, and do nothing to help it.

bipolar???

i’ve already been diagnosed with severe depression, but i have a lot of signs of being bipolar such as:
severe mood swings
i cant concentrate on anything
i get really high feelings where i feel like nothing can bring me down, but then i’ll just fall back way down deep and want to die
i cant sleep(esp.for the past couple days) or sleep too much
i get really angry and irritable
and sometimes i think way too fast for my own good
but i never seem to have a normal mood its either depression or a really "top of the world" feeling
could this possibly be bipolar?
i’ve stopped taking my pills(seroquel and zoloft) and thats when things got worse

Talk Therapy & Anxiety?

I’m an 18 year old senior in high school. I’m current on 150 mg of Zoloft a day. I’ve been recieving therapy for several months, but I really haven’t improved at all. I have problems with anxiety and depression.

The Zoloft has really helped with depression, but my anxiety is still very bad (if not worse then before the medicine). I’ve had a few panic attacks since starting the medicine (one very serious one in the middle of class). I also twitch quite a bit, it could just be that I’m so cold though…

My therapist would not diagnosis me with anything because I think she said she was more of a humanist or something. However she said that in order to treat my anxiety we would probably have to get the depression under control and it is pretty much now.

So I was wondering how effective talk therapy was for helping with anxiety? I’ve always thought I had social anxiety disorder, but my therapist is reluctant to diagnosis anything.
Also what other forms of therapy may be more effective?

Description of my anxiety
Well like most highschool guys I get most anxious around girls, but for me it isn’t uncommon for me to have anxiety or panic attacks.
I usually try to flee from conversations because I never have anything to say and I’m worried for some reason. So it will usually come with faster breathing & heart beat… possibly some twitching.

When just being in public I’m told that I look very uncomfotable and even at time that I look like I’m going to pass out.

Just sitting in class I will have problems twitching (mainly hands shaking and mouth doing something similar to shivering).
yes my depression has pretty much subsidded (and only in about a months period with the first medication, everyone was telling me change it and not even to give the zoloft a chance).

I really don’t feel a need to be diagoisnised with a specific disorder, I just feel my anxiety symptoms best first social anxiety disorder for best reference as to what my problems are like and what therapy would be useful in treating it.

I’ve heard a lot about CBT for treating anxiety and I think my therapist may use some.
I don’t see where you got the impression that the therapist does not listen to me. Just because she won’t diagonis me with some medical term doesn’t really mean anything to me. It won’t change how I’m feeling or the symptoms I’m experiencing and it would not change her method.

Isn’t it better to form the therapy to the individual patient instead of just switching because of something like that?

I was on Zoloft 50mg for about 6 months and Klonopin. What are some good medicines that I can take for my disorder?

This is somewhat a esoteric question but I’m going through therapy and am on a small dose of Zoloft 100 mg. I was just wondering if this was common with the experience or if it’s a side effect of medication. Any personal experiences? Obviously this isn’t a medical diagnosis, just wanted some input.

How long for anxiety medication to take?

I just got back on Zoloft and can’t remember how long it took to feel "normal" again. How long does it usually take? I still feel nervous to leave the house and have no appetite at all.

I was on Sertraline (zoloft) 50 mg, and went down to 20 due to fatigue, felt better, than anxiety symptoms came back. Just got put on cytalopram( cymbalta) 20 mg and I have been exhausted ever since. Are there any anxiety meds that don’t cause fatigue?

Panic Disorder………….?

Hi,
I was diagnosed with Panic Disorder when I was in 3rd grade. My doctor put me on Zoloft and it made an amazing difference. When I was in sixth grade, I started to stop taking it, and I was fine until the end of 7th grade when I started to have more anxiety attacks at school where I had to eventually be taken out and home-schooled. I’m going to go to public school for High School next year and I’m real worried I’m gonna feel like I did in 7th grade where my anxiety was unbearable. I had a bunch of Zoloft left from when I stopped taking it and I’ve started to take it again. Do you think this will make my high school experience normal?? Also, if you have any success stories, I’d love to hear them. And any tips will be appreciated. =)

Ive been on zoloft, paxil and ativan which did not work.

I’m 17 and I have terrible panic attacks quite often these days. The last two weeks I havn’t been breathing right and I have panic attacks when my breathing gets worse.I can’t figure out whats been wrong with my breathing so I went to the doctor and she said my breathing is fine and prescribed me with Zoloft and something for my panic attacks. Should I go to this or is there something else wrong. She didnt do blood work and I’m a vegetarian.

Can anxiety medication make you more anxious?

My doctor put my on Zoloft to try and control my social anxiety, but actually I have been feeling more anxious since I started taking the pills!

Im on the generic brand for zoloft and one of the side effects is anxiety and panic attack. I cant get my hands on a xanax, so what can i do myself to get over this?
