what works best for Generalized Anxiety Disorder?

i have been diagnosed for around 4 years and nothing seems to work except xanax but zoloft didnt really do it for me.. anybody got some stories to share how they dealt with this disorder?

I want to try B12 shots but I’m afraid to go to a regular psychiatrist office because they might not know anything about autism/aspergers and they typically only know how to write prescriptions for xanax and antidepressants.
False. It can have a profound effect in some people.

Psychological Disorders: Do You Suffer From Anxiety Problems?
Prozac

Advil

Paxil

Xanax

I have found that doctors are very willing to send you home with samples of prozac, lexapro, zoloft, etc even if you tell them you are NOT DEPRESSED.

I have spoken to several other people that have encountered this with their doctors also. I have told my doctor that I am going through a stressful time, and feel anxious and worry often.

Not depression.

I understand the fact that some anti anxiety drugs such as valium and xanax can be abused, and or addictive, but as a responsible adult it bothers me that my doctor will send me home with packets of drugs that are not for anxiety, and do nothing to help it.

Yes they can help dummy.

treating anxiety?

Thank you all for taking the time to answer my question regarding the treatment of anxiety. I have a problem with anxiety and I’ve handled it pretty well with taking .5mg of xanax 2xdaily. However, I would like to get of the Xanax and perhaps try something better, such as, Lexapro or Buspar. Being a male, I’m very concerned about the sexual side effect, that would make me feel worse. Should I stay on Xanax or give something else a try. Thanks for all your responses. It’s great to know that I’m the only one out there with this. It’s embarrasing talking to someone about this because it seems to me that if you’ve never experienced GAD, one cannot not know how horrible it feels. Again, thanks for all your responses.

Im bipolar and schizo. I would want a medicine like valium or xanax. Whats a good excuse for it? I need something to calm me down.

how can i control an oncoming panic attack?

I have not been diagnosed with a thyroid problem. I went to the doctor on 2-3-2011 for anxiety, panic attacks, not sleeping, loosing a lot of weight, tired, not eating, no appetite, body numbness, and purple colored fingernails, etc etc. My doctor prescribed me Prozac and Xanax for the anxiety and panic attacks. She said that she is concerned that this all might just have something to do with my thyroid so they drew three viles of blood from me for testing. Now my question is. If this is my Thyroid and we start treatment for my thyroid and when it starts to get to the normal levels that it is supposed to be will the panic attacks and anxiety go away? I have only been having these symptoms for almost a year.
I have not been diagnosed with a Thyroid problem and the blood work has not came back yet its only been a few days. I’m just wondering on a what if bases. I have been taking the Prozac and Xanax since 2-3-2011 at night. I do feel a little better already, I had a little panic attack this morning but I took half a Xanax and was back to normal in thirty minutes. The results could come back normal and I could just have an anxiety and panic disorder. I’m currently taking 10mg Prozac that I am supposed to move up to 20mg tonight. We will see what the future holds.
Yeah they where very severe. I haven’t even went outside for a week in a half up until I went to the doctor. They ran a EKG on me checked my heart and my oxygen. They checked my lungs and stomach etc etc everything came back perfect. My doctor is an actual sufferer of panic attacks and anxiety also which makes me feel good. She has been treating my family for years.

I have .5mg generic xanax prescribed to me is that makes a difference.

I would think 2mg xanax bars but i could be wrong?

Panic Disorder?

Am I the only idiot with this disease? I am so sick of it. I have lived with this disease for over 30 years. It goes like this…

I can’t talk one on one with anyone without these symptoms creeping up on me:

1.sweat
2.heart beat
3.dizziness
4.heat around neck, face

I cannot go to church and sit in the middle of the church. I start to… see symptoms above. I have to blow air in my arms, grab a book and flap air on me, hell I sweat while I am in the shower because for some reason my heart is just going 100mph.

What is it?

I went to see a head doc – prescribed Xanax. for the first time I felt weather change… room temperatures. No more “it’s always hot regardless”.

Am I crazy? Xanax helped but the symptoms are lingering – in certain situation, it just comes back!! I can’t even face her in bed (If you know what I mean…) heart races, sweat… and no.. It’s not because of that trust me…

This sucks…

What do you do?

I had an anxiety attack on saturday at 5 pm so I took some xanax. (.5) I’ve been taking two because one doesn’t do anything. Then I had another one at 2 am and again at 6am. Ever since then my upper back by my right lung hurts so bad even when I breathe. Is this connected? What should I do?

I have ridden many planes before without any problems before suffering from Agoraphobic panic attacks, but now I have them (they use to be so intense I couldn’t leave the house, but now I am working… relatively close to home though.) Is Xanax powerful enough of a drug to keep my head on during a cross country flight?

I’ve tried trazadone (makes me sleep), valium, xanax and others similiar to these. Has anyone tried anything that doesn’t make them sleep all day or feel lazy? Help!
