A few years ago, I developed panic disorder, and due to the panic attacks, I also developed depression. Even before taking any medication, or anything, the panic attacks made me gain weight. Is this a common part of anxiety and depression? Does this have anything to do with excess cortisol or adrenaline?
You know, the weight came on before the medication. I guess I have been eating more as a way to feel more stable.

Can panic attacks cause excess levels of catecholamines in urine tests?
I realise that excess levels may indicate a hormone or adrenaline disorder, but in simple, plain panic attacks/panic disorder – is this likely to raise catecholamine levels?

How do you cope with it? I don’t hyperventilate but I have every other symptom. I finally have a job and that’s helping with my agrophobia. I’ve never been properly diagnosed but all signs have been pointing to the bleeding obvious for years. I also have a phobia of medication, I can’t even take a Tylenol. Any non-medicinal; ways on coping with panic disorder? I’m sick of the fact that it’s controlling my life.

I am 17 years old. I am more than possitive i suffer from Severe Panic Disorder. But is it possible to have symptoms from more than one? Like when i was little i had to be taken out of school because i had SEVERE seperation anxiety and would literally make myself sick every single day. Then i got a little better. Then in my early teen years i was really scared of….people! Like i couldn’t talk on the phone for years. I was just so worried if i had to confront people. Now i have gotten over both of those for the most part. But now i have daily panic attacks, lots of phobias (Including Spiders, Metal, and medicine), and a few minor symptoms of OCD. Like if something touches one hand, it HAS to touch the other one. I have this thing where things have to be even. Is it normal to have many symptoms like these? Or am i completly screwed up? lol Thanks in advance for any information!

I have not been diagnosed with a thyroid problem. I went to the doctor on 2-3-2011 for anxiety, panic attacks, not sleeping, loosing a lot of weight, tired, not eating, no appetite, body numbness, and purple colored fingernails, etc etc. My doctor prescribed me Prozac and Xanax for the anxiety and panic attacks. She said that she is concerned that this all might just have something to do with my thyroid so they drew three viles of blood from me for testing. Now my question is. If this is my Thyroid and we start treatment for my thyroid and when it starts to get to the normal levels that it is supposed to be will the panic attacks and anxiety go away? I have only been having these symptoms for almost a year.
I have not been diagnosed with a Thyroid problem and the blood work has not came back yet its only been a few days. I’m just wondering on a what if bases. I have been taking the Prozac and Xanax since 2-3-2011 at night. I do feel a little better already, I had a little panic attack this morning but I took half a Xanax and was back to normal in thirty minutes. The results could come back normal and I could just have an anxiety and panic disorder. I’m currently taking 10mg Prozac that I am supposed to move up to 20mg tonight. We will see what the future holds.
Yeah they where very severe. I haven’t even went outside for a week in a half up until I went to the doctor. They ran a EKG on me checked my heart and my oxygen. They checked my lungs and stomach etc etc everything came back perfect. My doctor is an actual sufferer of panic attacks and anxiety also which makes me feel good. She has been treating my family for years.

I have panic disorder, and I know cocaine and caffeine would jitter me up and cause me to panic. I was just wondering if all illicit drugs would cause this or just the cocaine.

Hi,
I was diagnosed with Panic Disorder when I was in 3rd grade. My doctor put me on Zoloft and it made an amazing difference. When I was in sixth grade, I started to stop taking it, and I was fine until the end of 7th grade when I started to have more anxiety attacks at school where I had to eventually be taken out and home-schooled. I’m going to go to public school for High School next year and I’m real worried I’m gonna feel like I did in 7th grade where my anxiety was unbearable. I had a bunch of Zoloft left from when I stopped taking it and I’ve started to take it again. Do you think this will make my high school experience normal?? Also, if you have any success stories, I’d love to hear them. And any tips will be appreciated. =)

I was diagnosed with social anxiety and I am filling out this health questionnaire for college. One of the questions it asks is if I’ve ever been diagnosed with a panic disorder. Is social anxiety a panic disorder? or just an anxiety disorder?

My wife’s 34. 2 weeks ago, in the middle of the night, she told me that her brain was flying, felt tingling sensation in her hands and legs, had difficulty in breathing, was palpitating and so on. The whole night I held her and the next morning i rushed to a hospital. After the usual check ups, the doctor diagnosed it as an Anemia and gave some medicines. Then after a week, again at the same time, she felt the same kind of symptoms. Again I rushed her to hospital and the GP referred her to Neuropsychiatrist who diagnosed it as Panic Disorder. Although she’s under medications, she has been suffering from those symptoms more frequently. I’m in dilemma.
I just want to know whether there are any websites where I can scan her med. reports and ask the doctors online. I’m really lost. Please help me.
