Panic Attacks?

I have infrequent panic attacks, which although mild are still very scary. Does anyone have any tips on how to deal with them without medication? I find that Bach’s Rescue Remedy is good and is all herbal. When it happens to me I feel sick and dizzy and like I need to get out of wherever I am. I also feel hot and clammy, my mind races with thoughts and my heart beats fast. Please tell me your experiences and what you do cope so I don’t feel so alone! This has only been happening in the last year. Thank you!
Please don’t tell me to see a doctor, I have already done this and she just told me there is nothing wrong with me.

Anybody else with panic disorders?

How do you cope with it? I don’t hyperventilate but I have every other symptom. I finally have a job and that’s helping with my agrophobia. I’ve never been properly diagnosed but all signs have been pointing to the bleeding obvious for years. I also have a phobia of medication, I can’t even take a Tylenol. Any non-medicinal; ways on coping with panic disorder? I’m sick of the fact that it’s controlling my life.

General or social, I need to know the most effective medication. I know cognitive therapy can help, but what is the best medicine for treating [mainly] the physical side effects of SA? Thank you!

I was diagnosed of social anxiety disorder and yes, my symptoms are matching with the standard ones. I have most of them! but.. can anyone who is going through the same, please suggest ways of managing it without medication.

I was diagnosed with chronic anxiety disorder. my doctor prescribed me medication. I picked up the prescription this afternoon….but should I start taking it today or wait until tomorrow? I plan on taking it every morning because I know it’s the only time of the day I’d remember to take it. I don’t want to take it now (in the early evening) if I’m going to take it again less than 24 hours later. I’m supposed to take it once a day.

I’m Considering Taking Medication For My GAD, But Would Rather Take Something That Is Commonly Prescribed. Anyone Know?

I mean I like the CCHR and many of its views but some are just too radical. Psychiatric Medications have been used for decades and truly help many people. Millions now can live their lives free from things like Depression, Anxiety, Schizophrenia etc… I know they can harm you and the doctors know and they all do it with caution. I think its too radical to ban all Psychiatric Medication. What is with CCHR?

I was force treated with lots of psychiatric medication. After that I have difficulties to think normally. Now I am on a pH Miracle diet, use brahmi suppelments, but I need something strong to regain my brain power.

What would medication do for my anxiety?

If I were to go on medication for my anxiety, what would happen? I just don’t really understand how drugs can make the feelings stop. Would taking drugs prevent the heart racing, leg numbing, dizziness that comes with my anxiety?

Talk Therapy & Anxiety?

I’m an 18 year old senior in high school. I’m current on 150 mg of Zoloft a day. I’ve been recieving therapy for several months, but I really haven’t improved at all. I have problems with anxiety and depression.

The Zoloft has really helped with depression, but my anxiety is still very bad (if not worse then before the medicine). I’ve had a few panic attacks since starting the medicine (one very serious one in the middle of class). I also twitch quite a bit, it could just be that I’m so cold though…

My therapist would not diagnosis me with anything because I think she said she was more of a humanist or something. However she said that in order to treat my anxiety we would probably have to get the depression under control and it is pretty much now.

So I was wondering how effective talk therapy was for helping with anxiety? I’ve always thought I had social anxiety disorder, but my therapist is reluctant to diagnosis anything.
Also what other forms of therapy may be more effective?

Description of my anxiety
Well like most highschool guys I get most anxious around girls, but for me it isn’t uncommon for me to have anxiety or panic attacks.
I usually try to flee from conversations because I never have anything to say and I’m worried for some reason. So it will usually come with faster breathing & heart beat… possibly some twitching.

When just being in public I’m told that I look very uncomfotable and even at time that I look like I’m going to pass out.

Just sitting in class I will have problems twitching (mainly hands shaking and mouth doing something similar to shivering).
yes my depression has pretty much subsidded (and only in about a months period with the first medication, everyone was telling me change it and not even to give the zoloft a chance).

I really don’t feel a need to be diagoisnised with a specific disorder, I just feel my anxiety symptoms best first social anxiety disorder for best reference as to what my problems are like and what therapy would be useful in treating it.

I’ve heard a lot about CBT for treating anxiety and I think my therapist may use some.
I don’t see where you got the impression that the therapist does not listen to me. Just because she won’t diagonis me with some medical term doesn’t really mean anything to me. It won’t change how I’m feeling or the symptoms I’m experiencing and it would not change her method.

Isn’t it better to form the therapy to the individual patient instead of just switching because of something like that?

Are Gays born with the chemical imbalance?

Some people conclude that homosexuality results when a child is raped while others believe that people are born with a chemical imbalance, other researchers have found that they will grow out of it and that it’s just deviant behavior due to depression during adolescence so if the first and last hypothesis can be corrected with counseling what if they were born with it (chemical imbalance)?

Do you think that they can be born with it (chemical imbalance) and if so can a medication get everything back to normal? Please cite scientific references. I am tired of people throwing excuses and emotion into it when we need to get down to the nitty gritty here!

I have a lot of nervousness, for the simplest and almost the stupidest reasons. I am 13.
Do any of you know of a quick way to get ”side tracted" from the nervousness, without medication, for now?

The thing is, I’ve suffered from this for years. I’m currently on medication, but it only seems to help with the panic attacks and doesn’t really help with the overwhelming shyness, inability to think while talking, etc.

The only idea I can come up with is to hire someone right away who has sales experience, but then how do you pay someone when your business is JUST starting out?

You have a chemical imbalance for life?

Let’s face the facts. Starting with my psychiatrists analogy of depression, anxiety, and obsessions being like diabetes. If you have a chemical imbalance then you have it for life. Just like someone with diabetes needs insulin for life ,someone with a chemical imbalance needs medication (like SSRIs) for life.

Yet, many people (including the psychiatrists and doctors that give the meds) say it will just be for a period of time. Why is this?

Why don’t psychiatrists say you will need the meds for life when they give them to you?

Why do doctors and psychiatrists (not all) bother with other forms of therapy? These other therapies won’t restore any imbalance.

I say everyone diagnosed with depression, anxiety disorders, or OCD should go straight for the medication, and for life.

Agreed?

Anyone who has anxiety problems and/or mild depression, or anyone who knows about these problems…what medications do you recommend? I’m on medication right now but I’m wondering what else is out there.
