If you eat seratonin-rich foods often or take medication to increase your seratonin, and than you stop eating seratonin-rich foods and stop taking medication, will your body produce less seratonin then before you started eating seratonin-rich foods or started taking medication?

Can having panic disorder make one gain weight?

A few years ago, I developed panic disorder, and due to the panic attacks, I also developed depression. Even before taking any medication, or anything, the panic attacks made me gain weight. Is this a common part of anxiety and depression? Does this have anything to do with excess cortisol or adrenaline?
You know, the weight came on before the medication. I guess I have been eating more as a way to feel more stable.

What are some signs that you have chemical imbalance in your brain and need medication due to anxiety, versus just having a force of habit anxiety and shyness that can be treated with therapy alone?

I have been suffering from panic attacks for the past 8 years. Literally ruining my life. Whilst I have tried medication and it had helped me a lot, like big time, it unfortunately makes me very sleepy, and therefore not being able to work properly due to fatigue. Breathing therapy has never worked on me.

i have a long presentation to do tomorrow so in order to do well on it i need to get rid of my nervousness. Please don’t tell me be prepared and you wont be nervous because I am very much prepared but I get really nervous that I will literally shake the whole time in front of the class. Please give me some ideas that can reduce nervousness dramatically. Some kind of easy to get medication will be very helpful or some tricks as well thank you!

I didnt want to take medication because I dont want to be dependent on a medication,.. but now Im 4 months pregnant and my anxiety has gotten so bad on most days I dont even leave my house and avoid talking on the phone to anyone. I know I can’t take any meds while Im pregnant but I was wondering if anyone has been in my situation, and can give me some tips to help ease the anxiety.

Just recently I stopped taking opiates and started taking a medication called suboxone to alleviate the withdrawl and craving symptoms. This medication has worked great but I am mentally in the dumps. I was using opiates for about 3 years. I felt depressed before taking the opiates and when I took them I felt awesome. Euphoric. After stopping though I realized that I am very depressed. Even worse then before. Not suicidal or anything just helpless and always expect the worse. Part of using that long is that seratonin and or dopamine is now not being made naturally in your system. When you stop using you get super depressed because of a lack of both. I would like to find out from anyone in here that may have gone thru something similar or just has had a great experience with a certain med working for them what it was and how it helped them. I took Wellbutrin XL for 7 days. I could not sleep. I felt nothing from it because I stopped taking it because of the insomnia. Thx
Hey Guys,
Thanks for all of the good info. I do understand that everyone is different and what may work for some does not for others. I just wanted to see what the consensus was. Gimp, I wish you the best man. As for my plan, I am going to spend the next 6 weeks working out and eating right as a start then try to start weening off of the suboxone if possible. During that time I want to start an antidepressant. Someone was talking about fish oil? That seems a bit weird but it’s something to look at I guess. The only things I hate about the anti depressants are you usually gain weight from what I hear and your sex drive goes down. Screw that. Also you cannot drink on them at all? That’s crazy. Thanks again though.

I have an appointment to get anxiety and depression medication that I genuinely need. Which depression and/or anxiety medications are most notable for weight loss? I want to take whatever helps with appetite suppression. PLEASE don’t answer if you don’t have an answer to my question… in other words, please don’t tell me not to take medication for the weight loss. It’s just a fun bonus that I want.
Thanks- I’m also trying to get Adderall but because I need a 4.0.

What are some natural ways to treat a panic attack?

Hello. My best friend gets quite a bit of panic attacks but is not crazy about taking medication, and would rather see if there are some natural or physiological remedies to treat it before she considers. Please help! Thanks for any helpful answers.

Panic attacks?

How do you know that you are having a panic attack? For the last month and a half I have been having dizzy spells and feeling sick to my stomach. The spells would last between 15 to 30 mins. After the spells I would feel really tired and feel tense all over becuase I don’t know when they will come on again. I have had blood work done and next friday I will have and echo done. I have scheduled an appointment with a heart specialist. I will see my doctor on sat July 28 2007 to find out the test results. If I am having a panic attacks is there and kind of medication that I can take to help stop having theses attacks?

My 20 year old son was recently diagnosed Bipolar 1. A few weeks ago the doctors say it appears he experienced a hypomanic episode. During the past week he has been aggressive (not physically) and snappy at anything and everything. Probably sounds terrible though he looks at me like he wants to kill me. I have to choose my words carefully. This is the first time he’s ever behaved this way as he’s usually very quiet and pleasant. Is this part of Bipolar moods or could it be something else like medication or stress. Thanks.

If not, which medication works best for social anxiety?
I also have inattentive ADHD

I have tried a lot of medication for the past year and nothing has helped.
I have tried acupuncture, hyonosis, and nothing seems to help. I am going to try to continue therapy any advice please feel free
Best Regards~~

What kind of doctor should I visit if I think I have an anxiety disorder? I’ve done research online of anxiety symptoms and even taken a test to determine whether or not (not professionally of course) I may or may not have anxiety. I have many symptoms and the test said I may have an unhealthy amount of anxiety. Now, I want to take the next step. Who do I visit to help me with this disorder/ possibly get me medication? A psychiatrist?
