What are the effects of high seratonin levels?
Low levels of seratonin are found to cause depression.
What about high levels of the neurotransmitter, seratonin?
Thanks!

Just wondering what is a ‘chemical imbalance’ when it comes to depression
what causes it?? thnk u
I will NEVER take pills for my depression but I would really like to start taking ativan again. I was in th pavilion for a couple weeks and they had me on it but took me off when I was discharged. It helped.
So I have depression and anxiety. The anxiety is not far from cured, and I recently started Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for the depression, and I have plans to exercise. I have also started socializing more. I just f**ing hate the DP.
I was recently prescribed prozac and klonopin for depression and anxiety, i was wondering if it would be safe to use an average dose of adderal with the two, because i have a huge school project close ahead and i needed the motivation to get all the work done in one night. please, i need an educated honest answer or i’ll get really behind on this project. thanks.
I saw a doctor of psychiatry for a short while…just for depression, nothing major…is there a way i can get these erased of my medical records?
I am a 13 year old girl dealing with full blown anxiety, panic attacks, and depression. Is anyone willing to help me out? Can anyone share with me how they dealt with these problems and give me suggestions on how to get better? Thanks!
i suppose i should have added that i have gone to a doctor and a therapist. They all told me to get on meds. That wasn’t going to happen because my parents are strictly against perscription meds. now im kinda stuck because the doctor, therapist, and my family didnt really give me the help i am in need of…. now im trying to face all this alone and… failing miserably…. Oh and not to worry… i dont cut or have suicide thoughts…yet… T-T
I am definitely one of the two. No doubt about it. I have already gotten a professional opinion. I looked up the symptoms for both on various websites, and I fit both almost perfectly. In my opinion, I fit bipolar better than depression, but then again, depression IS part of being bipolar in my cases, so I really don’t know what to think.
I am hearing from many people that the Psych is going prescribe something. This is my first visit for suicidal thoughts and depression. However, medications are out of the question. My therapist doesn’t force me to do anything which I appreciate. Are Psychiatrist just as open?
Wondering how many people take pills for anxiety or depression.
Ok so most doctors say that depression is caused by a chemical imbalance but is it true that there is no evidence that shows this is true, rather doctors THINK or ASSUME its true, is there any evidence that shows a chemical imbalance causes depression?
I’ve been doing some research and from what I’ve read it seems like anxiety disorders and depression disorders are often coexistent with each other. Why is this? And also migraines are often a symptom in both.
I’ve heard that there are onlne support groups for people who have been diagnosed with a mental illness such as depression or bipolar disorder. If you have any recommendations, please let me know. I think an online group might help me relieve some of my feelings of isolation when I am alone. I know that an in-person type of group might be beneficial as well, but I’d like to start slowly.
My boyfriend and I want to have a child. The only thing I’m worried about is whether or not it would end up having depression or being bipolar. I suffer from depression and my boyfriend is bipolar. My mother and younger brother are also bipolar and my mom also has depression. I was told that both are hereditary. So will that mean our child would most likely end up like us?
I have found that doctors are very willing to send you home with samples of prozac, lexapro, zoloft, etc even if you tell them you are NOT DEPRESSED.
I have spoken to several other people that have encountered this with their doctors also. I have told my doctor that I am going through a stressful time, and feel anxious and worry often.
Not depression.
I understand the fact that some anti anxiety drugs such as valium and xanax can be abused, and or addictive, but as a responsible adult it bothers me that my doctor will send me home with packets of drugs that are not for anxiety, and do nothing to help it.
