I need medication for my anxiety/depression (I’m going through counseling too), but also want to be able to have a drink occasionally. Do you know of any anti-anxiety or anti-depressant medication that it is safe to drink with? I will ask my psychiatrist when I see him in two weeks but until then I’m hoping to get some answers and look into these meds as possibilities.

I know this depends on one’s particular physiology and symptoms and so on, but in my experience each medication tends to cause the same side effect profile in most people. Currently I am on 20 mg per day of Lexapro and I am trying to decide whether or not to try a different medication. I have been on it for several months and, although it has helped my anxiety it has come with a cost. Namely, I have the following unpleasant side effects: (1) apathy, low motivation; (2) fatigue, drowsiness; and (3) anorgasmia, decreased sex drive. Also, I do not feel as though Lexapro has addressed my depression, only my anxiety. Decreasing the dosage isn’t an option because the positive effects just disappear. But I do not want to go through withdrawal (brain zaps, mostly) if it’s just going to be the same with a dif med. If anyone has had a similar experience and can offer some advice, I’d be very grateful. (No need to respond if you just want to tell me it’s all in my head or need God.) Thanks.

I have MVP and was wondering what my chances are for having depression and anxiety. I show many symptoms and sometimes don’t talk i’m so sad. I worry way to much and find it very hard to talk to people i don’t know very well. I’m scared to take medicine.
I’m pretty sure i’m not bi polar but what about the other things?

I feel bad b/c I just had a baby 4 months ago and I don’t always have energy for her b/c I just feel drained. The anxiety has put "knots" in my stomach for the last few months and they won’t go away. I know my anxiety/depression has been brought on because the father of my baby walked out on me and I feel really really low.

Should I just talk to my regular family doctor and ask for meds? What kind do you suggest?

Sometimes i think im just overracting to all my crap, so im gonna ask some stranger’s here to give it to me how it is, is it really something to cry about, or should i just buck up and move on..heres what has me all screwed up:
drunk parents growing up, no love, mom died when i was 12, big sis watched over me, married a abusive man at 20, divorced 2 yrs later, now im living with a man im not happy with, i 24 and declared bankruptcy, i am inbetween jobs, no vechile, although i have a quad worth 5000.00,i have no friends anymore due to depression,got no more money, im smoking too much pot, lived in this crap town all my life, still here…i have 2 roads i could take, one being sell the bike, move out of town, start new. OR sell bike, stay here, at my sisters and work in town..get my stuff together.
I feel i am going insane with all this, and im waiting for that moment where i know i will have the perfect answer i dont know what or who to listen too anymore i cant even hear myself

I have GAD and depression and im wondering if this will help me out (it has helped out my mother and sister) so i guess i have a slight advantage. Plus im in a complete brain fog and am zoned out from all this stress and depression. I was wondering will taking this lexapro bring me out of this fog?

I know arachnophobia is normal, but I get a full on anxiety attack (hyperventilating, shaking, crying hysterically, etc.) that is quite severe and after it is over, I feel nauseous, I have a headache, and I am sore all over my body. All this from a spider. Is it normal?

I am a 15 year old female and I have depression and OCD as well, if it matters.

i have depression and i take BUPROPION HCL XL 300mg TABWAT and when i was just taking it, i started losing weight and feeling really energetic but my medicine made me have really bad anxiety. So i went to my doctor and he prescribed BUSPIRONE HCL 15mg and ever since I’ve taken it I’ve been tired and I’ve been eating kinda a lot but my anxiety has gone down a lot. Is it normal for that to happen?

I really don’t know, but it seems that people with borderline personality disorder are often misdiagnoised initially with depression. Maybe I am wrong though, maybe if you have borderline personality disorder then depression is a part of it????
