If you travel back about a year and half into my life, I have not had much anxiety at all. However now, because of series of events, I have anxiety that is effecting my life alot.
Could CBT get my life like it was a year and a half ago? I have developed certain phobia and fear and have negative thoughts triggering me on certain occasions.
Can anyone care to share success stories?
Also is seeing someone a Psychologist better than a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for my situation?

I have found that doctors are very willing to send you home with samples of prozac, lexapro, zoloft, etc even if you tell them you are NOT DEPRESSED.
I have spoken to several other people that have encountered this with their doctors also. I have told my doctor that I am going through a stressful time, and feel anxious and worry often.
Not depression.
I understand the fact that some anti anxiety drugs such as valium and xanax can be abused, and or addictive, but as a responsible adult it bothers me that my doctor will send me home with packets of drugs that are not for anxiety, and do nothing to help it.

I exercise everyday and suffer from anxiety. I take medicine to cope with anxiety and it usually works for me. I haven’t been to the gym since friday and saturday my anxiety came back (my period also came on saturday so the anxiety might have to do with my monthly coming on and it went off today). I always hear that exercising is good for anxiety. I noticed that too, but it only works for the moment then I’m back to experiencing anxiety like an hour later.

i have pretty bad anxiety and lately ive been feeling like im going to have a panic attack all the time. i get it really bad during school and during my soccer practice. i have xanax and klonopin for my panic but i want to learn ways to control it myself. whenever i feel one coming, i get all these thoughts and get the unreality feeling and i get lightheaded. i want to learn to control it without meds. can anyone help me stop a panic attack that it about to happen. thank you. I have been diagnosed with gad. I have been taking oxazepam but it makes me feel so depressed, that is one of potentially dangerous side-effects. furthermore, oxazepam makes me throw up every morning and I generally lack in appetite the next day. What can i do to conquer my anxiety? How can I cope with it?
thank you so much.

If I were to go on medication for my anxiety, what would happen? I just don’t really understand how drugs can make the feelings stop. Would taking drugs prevent the heart racing, leg numbing, dizziness that comes with my anxiety?

I was on lexapro for anxiety before and it really helped me. I stoped taking it because my moms insurance stoped paying for it- now my anxiety only seems to be becoming more and more severe as I get older and venture farther out into the world. I am thinking of going back on lexapro again- but if I did, would I still be able to go out and party with friends? After all, the goal here is to be able to lead a normal life- I’m still not living a normal life if my anxiety is gone but my activities are restricted.
I knowww I can have fun with out alcohol but I liikkee alcohol- I don’t want to aalwways go without it..
Damn… why couldn’t I have just been born normal without this fucking over reactive brain of mine.

Does anyone know of any herbal/over the counter medicine for anxiety (with depression)? I know there is St. John’s Wort but because of my birth control I can’t take that. I’ve also read of "Stressezz and True Calm." Do those things actually work? I’d rather stay away from prescription medicine since I don’t have health care coverage right now. Thanks.

Has anyone had a positive experience with any anti-anxiety drug (not anti-depressants)?
My main question and concern really is does it increase your weight? (Ex: Ativan)
don’t plan on using them all the time
just when necessary
(I get very edgy durng pms)
