Short and sweet is it possible to become dependent/hooked on anti anxiety medication meaning that if you don’t take it all of that suppressed fear and anxiety comes back and then some?

I’ve read numerous articles claiming that the effectiveness of anti-depressants is vastly overstated, but what about for anti-anxiety medication? Personally, I think I could manage my depression enough to survive in the world, but my anxiety renders me dysfunctional. I have no idea how to cure social anxiety disorder and generalized anxiety disorder. People have told me that cognitive therapy works, but I’ve been to a few psychologists and none of them were helpful. Neither has exposure therapy been the least bit helpful. In fact, the more I’ve exposed myself to the world over the years the worse things have become.

I am a mother who needs my anxiety medication. I am naturally easy going but once in awhile I feel my temper flair when my child misbehaves. So is anyone else like this? Do any of you need anxiety, depression, ADHD or other medication? Curious as to what else you other mothers go thru thanks to crazy kids.

I’m terrified of flying, and have recently taken to having a couple drinks in the airport bar before my plane takes off. I’m flying tomorrow with my family, and therefore won’t be able to go to the bar beforehand. My mom is going to give me some of her anti-anxiety medication for the flight. She said it might make me tired, but what other effects does this medication have? Will I actually not be scared of flying? I just don’t really understand how it calms you so things you’re terrified of don’t matter. Any answers are greatly appreciated! Happy belated Thanksgiving!

I have been on anxiety medication for over a year and I’m tired of taking it. How can I control anxiety attacks without the meds?

I am thinking of getting medication for what I currently consider as moderate depression and anxiety. I believe that the more natural, the better when it comes to depression and anxiety medication. I always read about anxiety and depression medication as having some pretty serious side effects. That is why I’ve been thinking about getting a cannabis permit (I’m in CA) to help me relax a little.

I am interested in a few of your experiences with weed and anxiety/depression and if it helped you.

I don’t want it if it won’t help me.

I’ve been battling anxiety the past week and a day (since last wednesday morning) and I’m even on anxiety medication for anxiety medication and have been taking it since July and it’s been working since the end of July, but the past week I’ve been battling anxiety. Idk if it’s due to my period that came on yesterday, a week after the anxiety started. It’s very annoying!!!

21 year old male. Thought something was wrong with my heart after cocaine use..went to the cardiologist…everything was fine. He did an echocardiogram and everything.

But…now I am still left with anxiety that I cant shake off. This has been going on for 1 month now. The anxiety is not as bad as it used to be…but its still there..lingering in the background. I have periods of time where I just feel anxious. can my cardiologist prescribe anxiety medication or should I go to a psychiatrist?
