Possible anxiety treatment?
I’ve been on 100mg of Zoloft every day, and it’s been helping my depression. In the mean time though, anxiety started coming on and replacing my depression. I told my Psychiatrist, and she put me on 25mg of Hydroxyzine, which I don’t understand because it’s an antihistamine, not an anxiety medication. I tried it for about a month and I didn’t notice any change whatsoever, just that my allergies were better. I then started taking Vicodin, just to kind of calm down when I needed to, and it worked wonders. I wasn’t shaky, everything was calm, nothing agitated me or made me on edge or anything. So I took 2-3 about every six hours. It was the most relief I’ve ever had from anxiety. I only started taking it because I didn’t have an appointment for another month. I took it for a week or two until someone found out and cut me off, thinking I was abusing it. It was truly helping, and I didn’t take it to get high, I took it to get rid of anxiety and back pain (a part of my spine has no bone.) Now that I’m off Vicodin, I want to talk to my Dr. at the next visit about a better solution to my anxiety than Hydroxyzine. My anxiety includes feint bouts of agoraphobia, shakiness, nervousness, confusion, and worrisome thoughts flooding my brain. What could I do about my anxiety problem? I don’t want to live like this anymore, I want to enjoy life! Thank you.
I want to know possibilities on medication i can talk to with my Dr.

You want a referral to a psychologist for cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Treatment for both anxiety and depression works better with CBT and medication and behavioral changes, better than any one of those by themselves. We are pretty good at treating anxiety, and by learning about the biology of what is happening with you and learning to manage the anxiety, you should be in better shape quickly. I hope you feel better soon. Good luck.
