How bad are the symptoms? If its seriously causing disruptions in your life, then please go see a psychologist!
I would try either lexapro or celexa. There both good for anxiety and depression. Or you could find a good shrink.
i also have problems with anxiety and i haven’t been diagnosed either, but it’s like you kind of know. when i fee like i’m about to have an attack i do a similar breathing treatment thingy. and nooo you’re not crazy. that’s what i thought too and i was scared to ask because i thought people would think i was crazy or just trying to get attention. but yeah the symptoms i have are: my heart starts racing, i get nauseous, i kind of start shaking slightly, i start blacking out, there is like this buzzing sound that starts to drown noises out, and i feel like i’m going to pass out. I’m not saying that those are the only symptoms because there are many different types. just when you’re ready to tell someone tell someone you trust and then gradually work your way up to your mom/dad/guardian and ask for them to take you to the doctor so they can officially tell you what it is. i’m scared to go to the doctor because i am afraid of the results and they might tell me i’m going crazy or something because i kind of have other problems too, like with depression and stuff. but it’s really best to go to the doc’s office so yeah. i hope you feel better
I’d start with the breathing program you can’t go wrong with that. I wouldn’t take any meds until I saw a doctor though.
Dont start taking pills. Everyone gets depressed or anxious and starts taking some ridiculous pills, that they then become addicted to.
Just get out, start making friends. It is much easier to just change your lifestyle a little bit than it is to quit an addiction to medication.
This may seem odd but it works. Go out and help others. Find an older or handicapped person or a retirement home and find a way to help others. Write cards to soldiers (they love getting them and you can really make their day brighter) or help in a soup kitchen. When you do pay attention to how you are making other peoples lives better. Its a satisfying thing and it will help you to feel good about yourself and will bring you a satisfaction and joy knowing that what you are doing is making peoples lives better and that they are great-full for your help. It can make a lot of ills disappear form our lives.
No, you should definitely seek treatment. I doubt it will go away.
I am sorry you are going through this. We all have periods of feeling this way. take time to do things for yourself and also talking to a medical professional can help.
I would talk to my doctor first before taking any course of action.
You should definitely seek treatment.
I suffer from anxiety and I wish I had found this site a while ago. I’ve learned that breathing and working through it helps really well for me. I also have learned not to stress about certain things that I cannot change or control.
It sucks being me too. I have found that there is no real cure, drugs work for a short time but over use can cause changes in the brain that lead you to an even worse place. What can work is to limit your use of drugs, Xanex works good if you only take it when you are really freaking out. I would say limit your use to one pill a week as a ball park goal. If take it too often you wind up in a panic state more often. Sometimes just knowing you got a pill in your pocket can chill you out enough to ride out the fear waves. Sometimes its fun to go back in your mind and replay those thoughts that were stressing you out and you can laugh at yourself. That helps, do not take yourself to seriously and do not sweat the little things and remember everything is a little thing. When there is no hope and no way out you hang in there, because you have to remember your assessment of your life situation is often wrong because your brain ain’t frigging working right any way, so your not as bad off as you think.
You really need to seek therapy with a licensed therapist. Don’t try to self-diagnose. Your problem may be greater than you realize. It sounds like you need professional help. Please seek help for your "anxiety" and "depression"!
I hope everyone will get there anwseres one of the days. I know i need mine soon
You are not crazy for looking for ways to alleviate this issue on your own first. Personally, unless you’re thinking of hurting yourself or others, I feel trying to isolate the root cause of your anxiety and treating it first before going to a Dr. will help. You never know.
I would incorporate prayer and quiet time into my daily routine. Also relax when needed and no when to say no to obligations.
Until you can see a qualified professional you might wanna try modifying your diet and maybe supplementing with some Kava Kava or St. John’s Wort.
I hope everything works out.
Hi Jo, First of all you are not crazy or you wouldn’t be asking for advise. You seem smart, since you have done research and are trying to find info on anxiety. It’s hard feeling anxious and depressed, especially for women. We have all kinds of hormonal things going on that effect our mood. I think that before you jusmp into any psychiatric meds, you should start journaling how you feel every day for 2 or 3 months. It doesn’t have to be elaborate, just come up with a short way to describe your moods. Write down what you ate, because sugar, caffiene, and other salty or fatty foods affect our brain. And write down what self talk you are practicing during these times. Often, it is our own mind that is repeating negative things instead of positive, which changes our OUTLOOK. "It sucks being me" is a negative statement. I know thats how you feel, but if you can try and replace negative thoughts, like "I am so anxious, what is wrong with me", to " I am relaxed and have control of my thoughts and emotions", you will see a difference in your breathing and in your anxiety level. Make your own positive statements or do research on positive affirmations.
Good luck.
Try to meditate and figure out where the anxiety comes from.
It’s good that you realize you may have anxiety. I would do some more research and work on dealing with your emotions.
You are not crazy for looking into your options. Thats a very wise thing to do. Hang in there!!
Seeing a professional is always good, and try taking some herbal remedies as well. That site you that you mentioned had some good tips.
