There’ll be paperwork once she gets there. They’ll ask her for a brief history. It’s in her best interest to be truthful. They’ll check her clothes and other items that she’s bringing to make sure she doesn’t have anything she isn’t supposed to have (drugs, weapons, etc.) Then they’ll give her a room. She may or may not have a roomate.
They have lots of staff monitoring all of the patients. They don’t really invade your privacy or anything, they just do approximately 15 minute check ups to make sure no one has hurt themselves or others.
They will encourage her to find healthy ways of coping so she doesn’t self harm or have any suicidal thoughts. They will also get her to start eating. Her eating will be monitored. They’ll start off small so she doesn’t get sick, but the meals will get larger as she is there longer. She may also have to ask permission to use the bathroom (the bathroom may be locked so she doesn’t throw up).
She will attend many group therapies, family session therapies, and individual one on one therapies. Her family and MAYBE friends will be able to visit her, and you might be able to call her while she’s there as well so you can check on her and see what she’s doing.
They are, essentially, trying to figure out WHY she has an eating disorder, WHY she self injures, and WHY she wants to kill herself so they can fix it, thus stopping these behaviors and thoughts.
She doesn’t have any reason to be afraid.
The staff there are very nice (or at least they should be) and helpful. Most of the other patients there are in the same boat as her, and can give her advice if they have any. The "30 day thing" depends on her, and how quickly she is progressing. If she doesn’t get any better, she may go to a residential. She needs to be willing to get better if she ever wants to get out of there, and once she is in there, believe me, she’ll really want to get out (those places can be very restricting and are boring as hell).
Hopefully this treatment will help her and hopefully she’ll be out soon.
You and her might think that it’s totally out of line, but the doctors know what they’re talking about. They just want to help her and stay safe, suicide is very serious! It’s kind of like therapy. I mean, it’s not like they are going to torture you or something. Maybe you can follow it by asking for reports from the facility. But it sounds a lot worse than it is. It only gets this far when everything else failed.
First of all, tell her she shouldn’t be scared about going to a place that will get her help-she should be scared that what she is doing to herself is damaging and permanent.
I don’t know personally what a treatment center is like and it varies, but she’ll have to see a couselor and talk to them, she may have group therapy, may have to take medication, may have to see a counselor after she gets out, she will of course, eat there and sleep there I’m assuming, she’ll probably be monitored closely, have rules and guidelines, have to build up trust and work to get out, she may be kicked out if she possesses drugs or constantly abuses the rules.
Bottom line, she DOES need help, and they’re going to help her not harm her.
tell her to try this for the next few nights/weeks/months it will clear things up and help you enormously NOW AND IN YOUR FUTURE .

O Lord / O Creator, save and protect me and my family and friends from sudden major and minor illness, car accident, terrorist bombings, rape, murder, kidnapping, drowning, burning, plagues and poisoning, and something falling on me and that we fall of something.
O Lord / O Creator of my mind, body and soul, you have not Created this Universe aimlessly, you are with blemishes, so save and protest me, my family and friends from all Major Calamities, Disaster, Miseries, illness’s and depression, sorrow and grief and save and protect us from the Evils in and around my life, in this Country and Evils of this World and the Hereafter.
O Most Merciful of those who show mercy, change my bad luck into good luck and change my Destiny into a good and pleasurable Destiny and shower your Special blessing and Mercies on me and my family and friends.
O Lord / O Creator, Forgive me for my past present and future sins and wrong doings that I may have committed, whether it was committed knowingly or unknowingly by me.
O Lord / O Creator, Open the doors to my mind, heart and soul and feed me data from yourself and give me knowledge of this world, and of the Next world and Spiritual world, make it easy for me to understand it, to act upon it and live my life in the best of ways in order to gain your infinite pleasure and that will Extremely benefit Me, My Family, Friends and My Country now and in our future.
