Webutrin made me very irritable, and more depressed..

Effexor made me psycho..I punched my husband in the mouth for for driving to the store and buying more beer..I have never been a violent person. that was the first and last time i hit him..five years ago. And it was so hard to come off of Effexor.

I took lexapro, and I don't remember it doing me like that...it made me not care about anything. I couldnt be happy, sad, mad, excited...I was emotionally numb. I took it for two years and even adjusted to 5mg per day

When taking Anti-Depressants things usually get worse before they get better, its just how the cycle goes. Lexapro never worked for me so I didn't feel the side effects your feeling, but I am sure its probably very nerve raking, just take it day by day, and let it do its course and things will be alright and the medicine will start to do its job, it takes patience, and you definitely have to have tons of that with Anti-Depressants. Oh and it usually takes up to, 2 weeks for the medicine to be completely in your system and working to your benefit and acutally being able to tell a difference as well. Heres something I found on the basics of Lexapro cited as my source. Take Care!

I actually just changed from Lexapro to Cymbalta today!

I had the exact same effects on Lexapro that you described. My depression hadn't been that bad for a very very long time. And I was sooo angry, my jaw would hurt from grinding my teeth and I felt like my skin was crawling and burning....very weird.

There is a certain time frame (2-6 weeks usually) that you should give a medication to see if its fully working (or not) for you. But, I found out from my doctor today, that if feelings worsen etc....even if only a couple days you should report it immediately.

For each person, things will be different but, its really weird that you desribed the exact same issues I was having with lexapro too. You should really talk to your Dr. asap. It can't hurt.

The answer to this question depends on the severity of these side effects.

All anti-depressants take some time to begin working (up to 6 weeks) and it is likely that in time you will begin to feel better.

However, if these side effects are severe it is important that you do not just decide to stop taking your medication. You should go to your doctor immediately and discuss the symptoms and maybe look at other possible treatment plans.

Goodluck with whatever you decide to do!
