Tip 1 : Breathe – most people begin to forget lines they know of by heart only partially due to the lack of oxygen they’re letting get to their brain.
Tip 2: Adrenaline – Before a performance you feel four times the amount of adrenaline of a car crash. the pre show is the worst bit.
Tip 3: Confidence- no one is really confident, everyone is nervous on stage, you’re not alone.
Tip 4: Commitment- you will only suck and die if you half ass it. No matter how embarrassing of rubbish what you’re doing is. It will look fine with full commitment.
Tip 5 : Perspective- If it helps look slightly above the audience, if and when you need to address them.
Tip6: Attention- imagine yourself in a little circle and outside of that circle nothing is important. Just you and what ever you’re thinking about. The audience have come to see you do your piece. You don’t need to prove yourself. It’s there choice.
hope they help also…rocking backwards and forwards on your heels and closing your eyes helps before going on.
Picture the audience naked?
I really appreciate the first answer, but also would like to add…
Be the character. Try not to focus as much on what you’re doing as what the character should be doing, and try not to think about the audience watching, as difficult as that is.
Memorizing is amongst the most important things, now capture the character and go for it. You’ll do great!
Being nervous is good. When your not nervous, you can get overconfident and thats when you make mistakes. Nerves keeps you focused.
im similat=r to you, if its a character im palying, no problem, ill act, dance sing for two hours and take curtain calls blah blah, love it, gtraet, if im on m,y own, being me, i sweat , my hands shake,m my mouth goes dry etc. Be nervous in the wings and use that energy to get you through your firat scene and the rest will take care of itself.
If you knwo your stuff there nothing to worry about.
HOWEVER, the more experience you get , and you will get loads of it, the more the nerves die away. sweet.
Good luck with your into. Get through that and your flying.
