Therapy is the way to go. You need to learn coping skills.
I struggle with my social anxiety as well, and am currently working at a part-time job manning the switchboard at an office. I don’t know the particulars about your diagnosis or the jobs you are getting, but what I figured out was that most successful workers have adapted a "business" identity that allows them to do their job and insulate them from their feelings while on the clock. Customers (or co-workers) don’t really care about your feelings your thoughts or emotions. If they ask personal questions, tell them that you don’t want to talk – maybe not to the point where it’s none of their business. It’s okay to be the quiet one. You are being paid to do something and you should focus on it.
I wouldn’t disclose your disability unless you have a specific trigger that is liable to interfere with your performance.
hi there, you should go for a CBT (cognitive behavior therapy) which could help you overcome or atleast reduce your anxiety. Dont avoid situations because of your problem coz if you do its going to get worse….remember.. the biggest fear is fear itself!!
Well there are many jobs nowadays that do not even require you to leave your home. If you feel comfortable talking to people through the computer, then that could be a possibility. However, there are also many other jobs that do not involve many social situations.
Also, I would not suggest informing an interviewer that you have SAD, unless the job calls for interacting with other people, or they ask a question about it. I wish you luck, and like the person above me suggested, to maybe seek out therapy if it still prevents you from getting a job.
