Getting all 4 wisdom teeth removed and I have a panic disorder what do I do?
So I have to get all four of my wisdom teeth taken out in 6 months and I am seriously having at least one panic attack a night about it. I am really worried about feeling pain or for that matter feeling ANYTHING! I have issues with needles and I terrified. If it was just the needles in my arms i think i would be okay but I honestly know I won’t be able to handle the ones in my mouth…I am so scared and I have know idea what to do!

HAHAHA I just got mine out on Thursday. Dude, it is so easy. You would be amazed. Wow, where to begin…
I have panic disorder as well. I had nightmares about it for weeks. And I mean WEEKS. I used to dream about getting needles jammed into me and being forced unconscious. Not to mention I harassed my parents AND doctor to death about it lol.
Then came the day of the surgery. I was a nervous wreck. I started panicking like crazy, so I told the anesthesiologist I couldn’t go through with it. She told me that they have anxiety medicine I could take and I could talk to them as long as I want, and that they would start whenever I was ready. So after about a half hour of taking anxiety medicine, I felt GREAT. I mean, really. It is amazing what kind of drugs they have at the hospital. I was perfectly normal, but just my anxiety went away. It was weird.
So then the nurse and surgeon started talking to me about school and what not as they wheeled me to the operating room, and the last thing I remember was him saying "I remember my high school days", and then I was awake. It literally felt like I just blinked. I swear they didn’t even don’t anything to me haha. I didn’t feel unconscious at all. Just a blink of an eye and the next thing I know the nurse said "so are you OK?". And I was like "that’s it?" O_O. And as soon as I got home, I was so hungry that I raided the refrigerator and ate everything that I could eat.
The first day the pain feels just like it did when the teeth were coming in, but after that it is really nothing. Don’t listen to the "horror stories" people tell you. I was perfectly fine. I didn’t even need pain meds after the first day.
Smoke a lil weed, chill out
Ask the dentist to give you a mild anesthetic if he/she has a license for it. Don’t stress out over it. I had my four removed at the same time and was awake but numbed up so much, I dribbled all over myself trying to drink some water. You will also be given some 2 X 2 gauze pads to bite down on until the bleeding stops. The dentist won’t let you hurt, so don’t worry. The shots in the mouth are a bit on the painful side, I admit, but usually after the second or third one, you won’t feel the rest of them. Don’t use a straw for several days either as the sucking on the straw can restart the bleeding.
Good luck!
i just had 3 of my wisdom teeth out(along with some other teeth
) and i have a severe phobia of the dentist so i opted to have it done under general anesthesia, best dental visit i ever had! the needle in my arm barley hurt, and after i was out i didn’t feel a thing, talk to your dentist about your fears and chances are they will set you up for GA, it’s very common to be sedated for a wisdom tooth removal anyway
have them put you to sleep. if your dentist cant do that, have him refer you to an oral surgeon. theyll put you to sleep and then next thing you know youll wake up and you wont have your wisdom teeth.
