anxiety treatment Archives

borderline personlity disorder: i have high anxiety and panic problems that have made me agrophobic:
i have rage and anger i struggle to control….i control it but struggle..but still get the intense feelings..

i feel i have ptsd symptoms resulting from an abusive, traumatic, bullying life… i get startled at loud noises..have panic attacks..
i have low depressive moods each day, feel lonely, isolated and cut off.. directionless.
i have racing thoughts everyday, where a 100 thoughts race through my brain, thoughts and anxieties….i forget constantly…..cant concentrate…like obsessive wories….i think of something, but forget it a minute later….then i get more anxious and depressed.

ive been refered for psychotherapy…but my psychiatrist wont give me any meds saying the ones that work are addictive..
theyve given me an occupational therapist to.

is this the right treatment? am i missing out on anything? if so, what treatment should i be getting for these problems?

What is the best way to stop Lexapro?

I have tried before, with no success even with gradually decreasing the dosage.

Hi,

I have been taking lexapro for 14 days on a 10 milligram dosage. I have experienced the side effects associated but wonder when the medication will take full effect and I can return back to normal functioning.

Are there any current users out there who can give some handy advice.

Hello, everyone. Just had a question about this. I myself am a third-year psychology student. I have both generalized anxiety disorder and OCD. However, I receive treatment for both. While talking to a counselor, she asked if anyone else in my family had them. I mentioned I always suspected my paternal grandfather had some anxiety disorder, and always had ulcers and consumed tums the way some people consume candy. I had read that they do tend to skip over generations, but I was just wondering if it is really true.

The doctor said to take it right before bed each night, but that varies between 10pm and 1am depending on the day of the week and how much homework I have. Does it matter? Does taking it at night reduce the effectiveness of it the next day compared to taking it in the morning?
Also I’ve been extremely tired during the day after I take it. Since I’m in school this is really frustrating; will it be like this forever? I’ve only been on it for a few days.

I’m relatively shy, reserved , but at a certain extent, meaning i don’t blush when i speak. My problem is i suffer from social anxiety,i prefer being all alone or at home with my family, i don’t like to speak to other people, especially when i’m not obliged to.
what can i do to get over my anxiety ?
i’m 26 btw.

Does it increase appetite? Decrease activity? Some type of chemical reaction?
I’m taking these medications but I don’t want to gain weight. That’s pone of the reasons why I am depressed in the first place. :(

Is it possible to start feeling a chance within just a few days?
*change, not chance. My apologies. :]

effects? I know Wellbutrin shouldn’t, but I’ve tried this and it increases my anxiety.

Can lexapro really stop panic attacks?

I have been having really bad panic attacks lately and I visited my doctor and she put me on Lexapro. I just want to make sure that she knows what she is doing. Does lexapro really help to get rid of panic attacks?
Also how long does it usually take for lexapro to work?

Partial responders, non responders… If Celexa (citalopram) doesn’t work, is Lexapro (escitalopram) as likely as an entirely different SSRI to induce an antidepressant response?
