Can you get over anxiety disorder and panic disorder?

I was diagnosed with anxiety and panic disorder a couple of months ago and one of my fears is living with it. Sometimes i feel like i’m loosing control, going crazy or even dying and with time, it seems like i become scared of simple things I once enjoyed. Is it possible to get over it? Is there anything i could do to less fear it?

Overcoming anxiety is no small task.
It takes practice and a lot of hard work.
I used to have panic attacks once a week
due to my high anxiety, so I definitely feel
for you. Fortunately, I can do a lot more
for you than empathize.
By utilizing the techiques below, I was slowly
able to gain control over my anxiety and stop
my panic attacks from occuring. If you
exercise these techiques regularly, you too
will see great improvements in anxiety,
tension and stress.
Breathing:
As the anxiety creeps up, begin to count in
your head. Count 1,2,3,4 — 1,2,3,4 — 1,2,3,4
pausing on the dashes and so on.
You’re not going to actually say or
even think the numbers. You’re going
to breath the numbers.
Take a deep breath in through your
nose for the 1 and 2. Then take a
deep breath out through your mouth
for the 3 and 4. Practice this routine
for a few minutes a day until it
becomes an automated exercise for you.
Practicing really helps a lot.
Practice in a controlled environment.
I used to practice before bed. When
panic does hit, this self-defense
mechanism kicks in without effort.
Control Your Thinking:
When you have negative thoughts,
negative things will come into your
life. Conversely when you have positive
thoughts, positive things will come
into your life.
That’s because thoughts steer the
direction of your life.
The same holds true in moments of high
anxiety. It’s important during these
times to monitor your thoughts and
make sure you force calming ideas
and images into your head.
Nothing is really as bad as it seems and ten
years from now,this particularly stressful
situation won’t exist - so control your
thinking to avoid your mind from falling
into a negative thought spiral.
As soon as you have a negative thought,
throw it out of your head and
counterbalance yourself with a
positive or optimistic thought.
This is a hard one, but after
you monitor your thoughts for
a week or two, you begin to think
more positive in general.
These two tactics helped me a lot.

Try therapy… sometimes we can come to learn the sources of our anxieties, which might help us to manage the illness in better ways (coping skills).
I have had anxiety for years and years — it’s better today than it used to be… i used to panic in grocery stores, for example, and just leave with my cart 1/2 full… i’d run to the car for no apparent reason… just plain fear.

Friend, I have panic disorder too, very scary and hopeless feeling. At that times, I was thinking and worried of panic disorder all day long. I have started see a counsellor since April this year. Although I have not fully recover but now I can walk alone to the market, go to the playround and take bus to the shopping mall. The counsellor/psychologist might teach you some breathing technique too. Currently I am seeing the counsellor every 3 weeks. At least, I know someone is taking care of me. Hope we recover soon. Yes definatly!!! Dont ever let anyone tell you, that you cannot get over it. Just do what makes you happy regardless of other people’s opinions. Live life how you want it to be, life is too short to be worrying. I’ve had problems with that, and all the doctors just kept telling me I would fight it the rest of my life. But I just started listening to my heart and couldn’t be happier. I’ve never understood how medications can change what you have to deal with in your environmental settings.
My wife had a similar problem and the only way I could calm her down was holding her in my arms.
After many Drs visits turned out it was a hormone imbalance caused by a thyroid condition.
Maybe you should look into it further
I have had the same thing…I was diagnosed in 1996 and I’ve had ups and downs, but I finally realized to not go without my anti-depressant. I didn’t want medications because I didn’t want the disorder, then I realized it’s a real sickness, like high blood pressure, and if I need medications, then I will take them. These conditions can be debilitating. A lot of people get over this. Only 10% of people do not completely recover, I am doing very well right now, I take two medications, one anti-depressant and an anti-anxiety drug. I am enjoying my life more now than in the past. I have my ups and downs but my meds are really agreeing with me right now, so Thank God I have more ups now. I had the same fears as you, but you have to take it one day at a time and don’t take advice from someone who doesn’t know what it feels like. God Bless!!!
Hi. Do talk to your therapist/psychologist etc about what you’re feeling. If necessary, they may prescribe you some medication or counsel you on how to deal with your anxiety and panic disorder. Good luck and hope you feel better soon.
I have anxiety and panic attacks as well and have only had them for a couple months.
I know exactly how you feel sometimes I panic so much I feel like I can’t move yet feel desperate for help.
You can go on certain medications such as I have, which have helped some, you can also try meditation and yoga which I also do and it does help.
There is also a drink called Monavi made with an amazon fruit and while I haven’t tried it for my panic attacks a friend of mine had severe panic attacks so much so she had to be homeschooled and she tried Monavi and it did get rid of her attacks.
There are also several books on panic and anxiety.
You can also talk to a counselor or psychologist.
It is a physical problem so don’t think that it is all in your mind and that there is something very mentally wrong with you.
Just know you are not alone and yes one can get over them it may take time or with some of the other suggestions above or it may simply just disappear one day.

I had overwhelming anxiety. It turned out to be my use of Splenda. Yup Splenda.
I like to say sucralose, not Splenda, because that is what Splenda is. And it is in a lot of stuff. The package doesn’t have to say Splenda to have sucralose in it. You have to read labels. So, you might still be using it and don’t even know it!
Sucralose is poison. It ruined five years of my life. I had a laundry list of medical problems while taking it, including overwhelming anxiety, depression, mood swings, insomnia and more.
The slogan, "Made from sugar…" is very misleading. Splenda might be made from sugar, but it is far from sugar. The resulting chemical is an organochloride (chlorocarbon). Organochlorides are typically poisons.
