You bet a stressful situation can cause a panic attack!
With GAD, you probably went through a different stressful situation years ago and somehow your brain set that amount of stress and anxiety as the "normal" level and it just got stuck there. That’s personally what I believe GAD to be.
The only way to keep this from happening again is to reset your brain, so to speak, so that your base level of anxiety is back to a normal level. Take some time to relax. Maybe even try some things like meditation or yoga to help you deal with the stress.
PS: I’m sorry that things didn’t work out with that guy, but don’t let things like that hold you back in the future. I’m a guy, and there’s nothing I think is more attractive than a woman that is fully open and emotionally expressive.
Stressful situations can trigger panic attacks. In fact most of the panic attacks I have experienced were because of a large deadline or pressure. Its only one person though. Don’t feel bad its not your fault. There are other fish in the sea. You can’t prevent people from having their own feelings. Just try your best to not feel offended or anything.
