Anxiety Attacks. Any ways to help get over them?

I’ve been having severe anxiety attacks lately and I really want to find a way to make them stop without having to resort to medications. Anyone out there have any beneficial techniques that have worked for you? I already do the deep breathing, self talk to tell myself, "I’m ok, I’m ok" but it’s just not enough.

Breathing deeply and slowly is a very good start.
You may want to add a therapeutic massage to increase endorphine and calm your thoughts and system.
Massage is an excellent venue to feel grounded and centered, as well as yoga and exercise.
I also suggest you see a professional therapist who can get to the root of the problem through talk therapy if it persists.
Meanwhile try to gain awareness into what is triggering the anxiety, surround yourself with supportive friends and family.
Take anxiety classes.
I don’t think you can get over this disorder on your own. You should first see your physician for tests to rule out things like Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Doing nothing to seek medical attention will make matters worse.
A close friend of mine has been suffering from untreated anxiety for over a decade now. She also poo-poohed medication, but had she tried various kinds until finding one that worked, she would be far better off than she is today. Her anxiety attacks keep her from being able to reasonably handle the most minor of difficulties, and have kept her from establishing an intimate relationship with a man. As a layperson I can see that she suffers from some type of imbalance, whether chemical or hormonal, that may very well be easily regulated by medication.
